After much anticipation, the Simple One electric scooter has finally made its debut, with deliveries set to commence from June 6, 2023, in Bangalore. Priced at a starting point of Rs 1.45 lakh, the Simple One enters the electric two-wheeler market with a range of compelling features. Much like Ola, Simple One has ambitious aspirations to establish itself as a leader in the electric two-wheeler segment, a challenging but achievable goal given the untapped potential of the electric two-wheeler market in India.
The Simple One electric scooter boasts an attractive, sporty design that will likely resonate with younger riders. Its front fascia exudes confidence and dominance, featuring sharp cuts and grooves reminiscent of high-powered maxi scooters but in a compact form. The scooter is available in a variety of exciting colors. Key highlights of the Simple One include its triangular headlamp, distinctive side panels, compact visor, sleek turn signals, and stylish rear-view mirrors. The flat seat design offers a comfortable and upright riding position, with ample space for both the rider and pillion. Chunky grab rails provide additional support to pillion riders during quick acceleration and nimble city maneuvers.
The Simple One is designed for everyday practicality, offering ample storage space at the front for various items and an impressive 30 liters of under-seat storage, large enough to accommodate a full-face helmet. Additionally, due to its unique design with exposed rear wheels, the scooter comes equipped with a saree guard.
On the tech front, the Simple One electric scooter doesn’t disappoint. It features an intuitive smart digital dashboard, smartphone pairing capabilities, call and music access, screen customization options, and turn-by-turn navigation. Users can access a range of connectivity features, including remote commands, remote locking, geo-fencing, ride statistics, route saving and sharing, and over-the-air (OTA) updates. The Simple One mobile app will be available for both Android and Apple devices.
Under the hood, the Simple One electric scooter packs a 4.8 kWh battery connected to an 8.5 kW electric motor, delivering a peak torque of 72 Nm. With a quick 0-40 kmph acceleration in just 2.77 seconds and a top speed of 105 kmph, the scooter is well-suited for navigating city traffic. Its impressive range of 212 km on a single charge alleviates range anxiety.
Charging the Simple One is done using a 750W charger, taking approximately 5 hours and 54 minutes to charge from 0-80%. Fast-charging will also be introduced in August. The scooter comes with a 3-year/30,000 km warranty for the vehicle/motor and battery, along with a 1-year/10,000 km warranty for the charger. It features patented CBS braking technology and 12-inch wheels equipped with 90-90 tubeless tires, complying with all safety standards mandated for electric two-wheelers.
The Simple One electric scooter enters a competitive market, going head-to-head with popular brands like Ather 450X, Ola S1 Pro, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and Hero Electric’s Vida model. With its impressive features and competitive pricing, it aims to carve a niche in the electric scooter segment.
