Pune-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, Tork Motors, has introduced a new addition to its lineup, the Tork Kratos Urban. Positioned as the base model, this urban-focused electric two-wheeler offers affordability at a price of Rs. 1,67,499 (ex-showroom). Tork Motors’ decision to launch the Kratos Urban comes in response to reduced FAME II subsidies, prompting EV manufacturers to offer more cost-effective options.
1. Catering to Everyday City Commutes
The Tork Kratos Urban is designed to meet the needs of urban commuters, prioritizing affordability. It comes with a single ‘City’ ride mode, offering a top speed of 70 kmph and a range of 100 km on a single charge. Buyers can choose from three available colors: Streaky Red, Oceanic Blue, and Midnight Black.
2. Unchanged Powertrain with Software Adjustments
The Kratos Urban retains the same powertrain as the Kratos R, featuring an IP67 certified 4 kWh Li-ion battery and a patented ‘Axial Flux Motor’ with 96% efficiency. However, through software adjustments, the Urban trim offers a reduced top speed of 70 kmph and a range that is 80 km less than the Kratos R, despite having identical powertrains.
3. Unlocking Additional Features
Tork Motors provides the option to unlock additional features at an extra cost of Rs. 20,000. These features include multiple ride modes (Eco, City, and Sports), reverse mode, fast charging, in-app navigation, live dash over Bluetooth, vehicle locator, anti-theft system, geofencing, charging point location, OTA updates, ride analytics, track mode analytics, smart analytics, and guide-me-home lights. Urban trim buyers can enjoy these features for one month, after which they are locked. However, they can permanently unlock these features by paying Rs. 20,000 within the first 6 months of purchase.
